Terrorism, For the Win!

I guess the following means that the terrorists have won.

Apparently, the city of Boston was sent into an OMG!BOMBSCARE!11!!eleventy!1! tizzy because of some Light-Bright-type ads for The Cartoon Networks Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

The bomb squad even blew one up.

The city pretty much came to a stop over this. There was chaos.

I could go onto comment on how the United States is drowning in a culture that continually perpetuates fear, but then I thought: res ipsa loquitur. (The thing itself speaks the thing speaks for itself.)

Though (and I realize that this comment will add to that culture of fear) I should also point out that these ads which resembled a circuit board with LED lights, wires, and batteries sticking out of it have been in place for anywhere from TWO to THREE WEEKS.

Way to be on the ball there, folks.

Heres a photo:

(Yes. Its giving you the finger.)

Blah. Two people arrested. Blah. Boston officials embarrassed. Blah. Law enforcement is attempting to find statues to prosecute even more people to the fullest. (Try to blame others for the bomb scare/massive overreaction to wipe egg off of face.) Blah. The two dudes who put everything up? Could get five years in jail for this. Blah. All the boring details. Blah.

Also? Boston appears to be the only city (out of many including New York City, Philidelphia, San Francisco, and Seattle) that actually had what can only be described as some fucked-up-whole-city panic attack.

Now, the whole point of terrorism is to instil terror in the populace meaning that you defeat them through the use of terror. (This makes sense because the bombings in London during WWII only made the populace more resolved to defeat the Nazis.) Its a form of psychological attack meaning that the terrorists dont actually have to attack more than once. You see, the result of any attack is a state of heightened anxiety and panic in the attacked population which is way more destructive than the terrorist group could ever be. (Not that thats a challenge, mind you.)

Extending on this, the War on Terror could be construed as an act of terrorism itself because it continually perpetuates the fear of a terrorist act. (Mostly by pointing out that the American military needs to take even more action because the terrorists are EVERYWHERE (hiding in the shadows) and theyll never be safe unless the US is made Lord and Master of the world. (Including detaining prisoners without regard to their rights under the Geneva Convention and even sending those prisoners off to friendly countries to be interrogated knowing that these countries use torture as an interrogation technique.)) So, does that mean that America and its enemies are acting in cahoots to give the citizenry of the United States a severe case of an anxiety-panic disorder? Hey, if thats the case, does that mean theyll start putting Xanax in the drinking water?

Mmm . . . Xanax.
